A new week, the second Weekly Drawings. I had a decent start to the week, in that I had a three day weekend and saw two movies. Boy Kills World is a fun watch. Monkey Man is really engaging and enjoyable, but the story falls apart with the politics, which are never explained beyond vibes. It was all very fun.
Today, I checked my schedule for the rest of this weekend and realized it’s day four of eight days in a row working. So, you know. So much for a three-day weekend. It’s generally busy and an event at the store, and the managers and some of our staff are helping a newly opened store. It’s good we’re supporting them, because one of our former managers is running it, but here I feel unprepared and understaffed and like the district is going to blame me for perceived underperformance. And then I have a couple more days learning a brand new department, while I’m pretending to be in charge.
-Sigh- Just breathe. That place doesn’t exist when I’m not in it, and it is not my life. I need to learn to relax.
This week in art, I started drawing Renee, another character from this series. She’s a friend of FC’s and roommates with Frankie. She’s got a short fuse and a cynical viewpoint. At the end of the day, she just can’t get over how unfair life can be in keeping her away from her desires, for as used to it as she is. I also ran into a stumbling block with figure forming and did a bit of study to find a starting point. I tested that out with Jumping Spider, a Spider-Woman I drew after watching a Nando v Movies video on ADR in Madame Web. I’m now working on this group dancing picture, to further test if this new skeleton will work for my style and to practice groups.
